To see the finished piece se [link] For Desert Bloom

OK. Stage three....the Background from friggin' heck. I got the rocks done. (Thank you to everyone in the chatrooms who helped critique it.) And all the little blooming desert plants. (They're pretty fuzzy, but if I sharpen them up too much you lose the distant feel.) And the sky, which took layers and layers of pencil to lay flat. (One of the downsides to color pencil. Large flat areas of color are a pain in the ASS!) I decided to go with a blue sky instead of sunset because all the rusts and oranges of the rocks needed a contrasting color to make them pop. A sunset would have been too orangey.

I jumped back to the horse lady and used a .005 micro to define the fringe of her dress and now I have to go back in a tone down the too sharp lines. But since a dark pencil wasn't defining enough... It's a give/take.

But now comes some of the fun part. I get to go into the little details like the beaded feather holder in her hair and the belt and trim! It's those little touches that make a piece sing. I also go back in an adjust any values, sharpen or soften edges, and check for any missing details. The picture still needs a lot of work.

But hey, it's what I love to do!
