Griffin Plush by stephanielynn Griffin Plush by stephanielynn
Here is a Griffin for The Great Plushie Contest! A griffin traditionally is the front half of an eagle and the back half of a lion. I think the pairing of almost any bird/cat mix works.

He is from my own pattern, with some advice from :iconsandrabong: He is 18" long and has a wingspan of about 14 inches (stretched). His front is made from longpile fur that is increadably soft. His back half and underwing is from a faux suede. (I just LOVE his little paw pads!) His wings are lined with feather trim. I molded his talons and beak from plastic and then hand painted them. He has a wire from his head to his tail and down both wings so he can be posed. He will get a pin on his belly so that he can sit on a shoulder.

I love griffins............

Are you willing to send me a outline of your pattern? I would love to make my boyfriend one of these, his name is Griffin Plush and I think it would be cute to make him one. If you don't want to that's okay I understand. Great work he is super cute! :)

Would you consider doing a commission of something like this but smaller?

Thank you. It's hard sometimes to detail plush. Also, you have to balance all the time you put into a piece by how much people are really willing to pay for them. Each Griffin takes about 20 to 25 hours to make from start to finish.

I do take commissions, however I don't do usually do trades as this is how I make living. Griffins run about $55

Yeah, I hear ya! I don't do plushies, but I do taxidermy (other form of stuffed animals), and I tried to give plushies a try, and sewing a pattern is HARD!

I'd love to do a commission, but like 85% of us on DA, we are poor/starving artists. However, I can be able to dig up $30 by the next two weeks (damn bi-weekly paychecks! :shakefist: ) and if you'd like anything for sale out of my journal, you'd be welcome to $30-$35 worth of stuff!

Yes but he took some 30 hours to make. That price doesn't cover my time and materials. (I make $1.66 an hour without adding in material cost.)
