Embracing My Reflection-Final by stephanielynn Embracing My Reflection-Final by stephanielynn
Here is the final. I added their clothing and hair, then went back into the fur. Spots and some final fur detail were added then I colored the broom (which looks like it's seen better days.) That done I sat back and stared at it a while. Some of the values had to be adjusted so I darkend the green drape and added some shadows here and there. I touched up the fingers, added some shadow there and then added some reflected light. All in all a good weeks work.

The innate cruelty of the mirror if imagination: showing what can never be other than dreamt about and occasionally grieved over.

Have you ever felt that you were born into the wrong form? Have you ever thought you were different but didn't know how to express it? Those are the questions I get when I looke at this drawing.

Your details are wonderful. The values between light and dark are compelling and the I love the differing tone in blue between the human and anthro. Kind of makes me think that what's behind the mirror is her true self, her true color. Also, the folds in the dress are amazing! I've tried doing folds before and they're still tricky for me, but you just really make them flow on that dress. :-)

I don't know if you know this but the color green is usually represented with hope. I think the green behind the mirror represents the hope she holds for being who she really is. This is just a guess and/or suggestion, though.

Really well done after coming so far. I love humans and anthros together, and this one makes me want to be that much closer to them. Thank you very much!

Ye gods, this gets my imagination fired up! I have this idea for a Cinderella story in a world populated by both humans and anthros, but the humans are second-class citizens. Then, on the night of the royal ball, the humble scullery maid finds a magic mirror that lets her become the beautiful princess she's always seen herself as.

...anything close to what you were thinking?

This was a commission. The story we kind of came up with was that the human is trapped in her dark, dingy life. The mirror, shows the potental trapped within. The fact that the strong snowleopard image is reaching through to grasp the hand of the sorrow filled human self is where possibilities interconnect...

Which is a really wordy way of saying ...yes, kinda...
