Desert Bloom-Final by stephanielynn Desert Bloom-Final by stephanielynn
I've reached that point and am declaring this picture done. DONE, I say! I've added those little color details, the beadwork, added some shadows. I'm afraid if I play with it too much longer it will be overworked. It's a more "pastel" piece than I usually do, but it fits the piece. I hope the gentleman that commissioned this will be pleased.

This will be a limited edition print that I'll have for sale at MFF.

See the evolution of this piece!

Stage 3 (The background): [link]

Edit: Just in case there was interest, I have Stage 2.5 in scraps. It kind of shows the background in mid-transition:[link]

I think this is my favorite of one of your pieces. It's just amazing in so many ways. The hand on our left looks a little odd, but it doesn't detract from the piece. The beads are gorgeous. You managed to make both the subject and the background equally eye-catching without taking away from the other. You can almost feel the wind and the feathers :D

Wow. This is amazing. I have a weakness for anthromorphic horses, particularly females, but this goes way beyond 'anthromorphic.' This seems almost natural. A great pic.

I think my favorite thing about this one is her face. Equine eyes are so beautiful anyway, but you really gave her a sweet look. I keep looking up to Breeza on Tilana's lap and just connect dots and details and think... wow. Yeah, those hands are a bugger. The right one looks just fine to me. (Am I the only soul who's thought of putting their "hoof" nail on the back of the first finger bones?)
And of course others have pointed out the left hand. I really don't know how one draws such things better... I'd really be unable to do it right at all.

The details on her dress are stupendous. Your background was well done too; for a moment I thought you had nailed the look of the Mesquite fields I camped in when the Army had me tooling around the Arizona - New Mexico area. Then I noted the purple flowers. Still not bad.

Very well done, and again, it was a pleasure looking through the stages.

A little bigger than 8 x 10. It's on 8.5 x 11 paper with white space around it so that it can be matted.

Yah...since I've been zombiefied, I'm eating brains too!

This is a gorgeous horse anthro, and the Native American theme is really well executed. :+fav:

However, since this is marked Advanced Critique, there is something that's confusing, and that's her right hand (on the viewer's left). The perspective and visibility of the nails seems odd, almost like it's a back paw, though maybe I'm just looking at it wrong. At any rate, it's a wonderful picture.

My roommate pointed out the hand as well. That's been the biggest complaint. I'm not to sure who to fix it at this point. Pencils are somewhat unforgiving. Next picture I do, I'll try to look out for this in the sketch phase.

Yeah, you can't catch everything before it's too far along. Don't let my nitpicking be discouraging, though. I'd kill to be able to draw this well!

It's all right. I went through art school. You learn to grow a hard skin and just deal with a little nitpicking. You can't be too sensitive about it, especially when they're right. Not everyone is going to love your art. (Hell, lots of time "I" don't love my art.) Besides I asked for advanced critique. Finding out what others think of my picture helps the next one be better. So thank you.
